Water Rates in Rocky Hill Are Going Up 50 Percent

Effective August 1, 2021, Rocky Hill Borough will be raising its water and sewer rates. These increases are needed to support significant current and future costs to maintain the utility infrastructure and to stay in compliance with federal and state regulations.

The current water rates will increase from $4.25 per 1,000 gallons to $6.60 per 1,000 gallons for the first 12,000 gallons and any usage over 12,000 gallons will be charged at the rate of $8.50 per 1,000 gallons. The current sewer rates 13.75 per 1,000 gallons will increase to 15.75 per 1,000 gallons for the first 12,000 gallons and usage over 12,000 gallons will be charged at the rate of $19.25 per 1,000 gallons.


In addition, there will be new quarterly service charges of $50 for water and $50 for sewer. This will be in addition to the usage charges above. The quarterly minimum charge of $108 will be eliminated.

The above water rates represent a 50% increase for water usage 12,000 gallons or less and 100% increase for every 1,000 gallons over 12,000 gallons. The sewer rates represent an approximate 15% increase for usage 12,000 gallons or less and an approximate 42% increase for every 1,000 gallons over 12,000 gallons.


A public hearing regarding these rate changes is scheduled for May 3, 2021 during the regular council meeting.
