Two Incidents of Lewdness Reported on the D&R Canal Towpath

A female jogger who entered the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park towpath at Rocky Hill witnessed a Caucasian man masturbating as she was running on Saturday, August 24 at 11 am. She reported the incident to the NJ State Park Police. The woman ran in the direction of the Griggstown Causeway. The man, described as 40+ years old, under 6 feet tall, with dark facial hair, exposed himself just north of the Griggstown Canoe and Kayak Rental area.

Two days later, on Monday, August 26, Princeton police reported that a man exposed himself to a different female jogger on the D&R Canal towpath in the area west of Alexander Street. Immediately after doing so, the unknown male fled from the area and proceeded toward West Windsor. Patrols responded and checked the area but were not able to locate the suspect. The male was described as having a black backpack, holding a sweater, and had his face covered.

Police urge residents to use caution and be vigilant while jogging/walking along the towpath. Carry a cell phone with you for emergencies. Stay alert to your surroundings. Avoid jogging/walking alone when possible.


Report suspicious activity to Sgt. Timothy Kasony of the NJ State Park Police at 609.964.6265. Call 911 during an emergency.
