Two Motor Vehicle Collisions with Injuries in Montgomery Township

Montgomery Township police have reported two motor vehicle accidents with injuries so far this year.


Police, Fire Company No. 1 and Montgomery EMS responded to River Road (Route 533) and Staats Farm Road for a motor vehicle crash with an overturn today (January 9) at 9:02 am.


Police said Danny C. Lui, 65, of Belle Mead was driving a 2013 Toyota on Staats Farm Road. He pulled out in front of Angelina F. Carrano, 22, of Hillsborough, who was driving south in a 2012 Volkswagon on River Road, causing a collision. Carrano’s vehicle turned onto its side, coming to rest against the berm along the southbound shoulder.


Firefighters were able to extricate Carrano from her vehicle. She had a complaint of head and neck pain, and was taken by ambulance to RWJUH-New Brunswick for treatment.


Montgomery Township Police Car

Lui and his passenger were not injured. The roadway was closed for approximately one hour for scene investigation and cleanup. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Lui was issued a summons for failure to stop, or yield. He is due to appear in Montgomery Twp. Municipal Court.


Collision on Hollow Road

On January 3 at 1 pm, Montgomery Police and EMS responded to Hollow Road, just north of Route 518, for a motor vehicle crash with injuries.


Police said Sarah L. Gross, 19, of Pennington, was driving a 2014 Mazda CX9 northbound on Hollow Road. She attempted to make a left turn into the driveway of a residence, when she impacted a southbound 2012 Toyota Camry being operated by Betsy Caivano, 78, of Skillman.


Gross suffered minor abrasions to her wrist, and Caivano had a general complaint of pain. Both drivers were treated on scene by EMS. Gross declined further treatment. Caivano was transported to Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center by ambulance. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.


Gross was issued a summons for Careless Driving, and is due to appear in Montgomery Twp. Municipal Court. The section of Hollow Road was closed for about one hour for investigation and scene cleanup.
