Rocky Hill Borough Council Candidate Trey Delaney

Posted August 15, 2021

Edgar “Trey” Delaney works for the Princeton Regional School District in special education. He has had several successful careers: He retired from the US Army as a major after 12 years; he then retired from a 30-year-career with Hartford Insurance. He moved to Rocky Hill in 2011 and is the father of two sons: Andrew, who is the head men’s lacrosse coach at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia and Brian, who is a business analyst in New York City. Delaney is a member of the vestry at Trinity Church in Princeton.

Delaney says he is interested in running for office “to be of service to the community.”

What are the top issues in Rocky Hill?

1. Historic District: Some properties need some attention and would like to help if I can.

2. The Public Water Supply. We will have some decisions to make regarding the water infrastructure.

3. Trees need to be taken care of. If someone chops down a tree, they should have to plant another one to replace it.

4. Police/law enforcement, especially for traffic. I would like to work with a traffic engineer to calm the traffic and make it safer for pedestrians and drivers alike. We will have to deal with trucks, but we have to have them go the speed limit — especially during the hours when the post office is busy and people are crossing the street.

5. The Library. I want to understand the options and how we can work together to preserve an important community resource.

Why are you running for Rocky Hill Borough Council?

I have strength and skills in finance and insurance, and those skills could be helpful.

What do you love most about Rocky Hill?

The people. ■
