Pop-Up Artists’ Studio & Gallery in the Grove at Montgomery Plaza

March 2, 2022

The Montgomery Township Arts Council is hosting a Pop-Up Studio & Gallery from March 1 to 13, featuring four local artists. The artists will be working in a commercial space that is not currently leased, after reaching an agreement with Atlantic Realty, the owner of The Grove at Montgomery.

The arts council is looking to address one of the challenges many artists face when living outside of urban areas - trying to find affordable studio space nearby. Cities are known for renovating older buildings, like factories, into working artist’s studios. Frequently in such settings, the artists and artist-community collaborations draw visitors from near and far, enriching the vicinity, while creating renown and tourism revenue for the cities.

Having a space dedicated to working artists and neighborhood arts programs will provide opportunity to nurture and strengthen Montgomery’s creative community, according to Karen Tuveson, chair person of the arts council.

“Atlantic Realty is generously allowing us to temporarily use a space to test out this open studio model,“ she said. “The goal is to engage and get feedback from the greater Montgomery community, as well as local artists.”
