Nickole “Lee” Forbes, 73

Lee Forbes, a longtime resident of Belle Mead, died at Hunterdon Medical Center on Dec. 21 after a short battle with cancer. She was 73.


An active member of the Greater Princeton Area League of Women Voters, she had served as chairperson of the Montgomery Democratic Organization (2002-2003).


She was born in Akron, Ohio, on Feb. 4, 1951. Her parents, Nick R. Cicora and Wilma Frame Cicora, raised her in Boston Heights, Ohio, along with her brother Bill (Stow, Ohio).


She met her future husband, Bill Forbes, at a ski resort in Ohio during their teenage years. They married on Dec. 31, 1969, and would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.


Lee earned a bachelor's degree in finance in 1978 and an MBA in 1979, both degrees from the University of Akron. She had a long career in finance, beginning with Ohio Bell. The family moved to Belle Mead in 1983 when Lee was promoted to a management position at AT&T. She retired as a senior manager with Lucent Technology in 2000.


Lee is survived by her husband Bill and their children: William L. “Buddy” Forbes, Jr. of Hudson, Ohio; Michael Forbes of Kendall Park, NJ, and Michelle Forbes of Baltimore, MD; and by six grandchildren.


A memorial service will be held at Hillsborough Funeral Home on Jan. 11, 4 pm to 6 pm.
