Montgomery's Newsman in Texas

By Barbara A. Preston | April 1, 2022

Darron Wallace, a proud graduate of Montgomery High School, serves as a multi-skilled journalist at 6 News, serving the Central Texas community.

Wallace hails from Belle Mead. He graduated MHS in 2015 and enrolled at Syracuse University that fall. Originally an economics and neuroscience major during his four years at ‘Cuse, it wasn’t until his senior year that he discovered the broadcast journalism master’s program at the Newhouse School of Communications.

After one meeting with Syracuse University Professor Olivia Stomski, he says he was convinced he had to join the broadcast journalism master’s program.

Prior to his employment with Channel 6, KCENTV.com, he had an internship working at WFRV Local 5 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He covered the Green Bay Packers during training camp. He also has worked in the Newark Public School District, COVID-testing thousands of individuals in an effort to continue to help overcome the pandemic.

An avid sports fan, he supports the Yankees, Knicks, Jets and, across the pond, the Chelsea Football Club. He enjoys playing the sports he watches, particularly basketball. He has four siblings, and his proud mother is Zelda Spence-Wallace, president of the Montgomery School Board.
