Margaret "Peggy" Lamb, 93

February 5, 1928—September 30, 2021

Longtime Rocky Hill Resident

Margaret “Peggy” Baird Lamb, a longtime former resident of Rocky Hill, died in Owatonna, Minnesota on September 30 at age 93.


Peggy was born February 5, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John H. and Ruth Catlin Baird. She graduated from Langley High School in January of 1945 then earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1948. Peggy was active in the choir at Pitt and that is where she met her husband, Bill.

Peggy and Bill were married April 7, 1951 in Pittsburgh. In the fall of 1963, they moved to Rocky Hill with their two children.


Peggy earned a master's degree in education from Rutgers University in 1970. She worked for Educational Testing Service for more than 20 years, retiring in 1993. Peggy loved traveling and seeing the world. She and Bill took many trips across the world. Bill died in 1999. She was able to continue traveling with her grandchildren, daughter, and numerous friends. She stayed busy knitting, listening to music, reading, and volunteering for many years at Mary Jacobs Memorial Library and her church, St. Charles Borromeo, until 2019.


She is survived by her daughter Megan Lamb, daughter-in-law Anne Lamb (Michael Alcott); grandchildren Mallory (Benjamin Swanson), David, Stephen (Miranda) and Jordan (Samantha); and great grandchildren Ezra, Simeon, Jude, and Lennox. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Bill and son Philip.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 30 at 9 am at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am. The Rite of Committal and burial will take place afterwards at the Rocky Hill Cemetery.


Memorial donations may be made to the Mary Jacobs Memorial Library Foundation or to St. Charles Borromeo.
