Man Hides After Crashing into Telephone Pole on Princeton Avenue

Montgomery police found an unoccupied black 2007 Nissan Quest with heavy front-end damage fully engaged with a telephone pole near Princeton Avenue and Blue Spring Road on February 28 at midnight.


Officers found the driver, Rafael Montanez, 43, of Princeton, hiding in the rear of the Blue Spring Apartments. Police arrested Montanez under the suspicion of driving while intoxicated and transported him to Robert Wood Johnson hospital in Somerville for minor injuries sustained to his hand and mouth.


Upon his release from the hospital, Montanez was issued summonses for DWI, Careless Driving, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving with an Expired License, Failure to Report an Accident, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. He has a pending court date at the Montgomery Township Municipal Court.

Accident with Injuries by ShopRite Shopping Center

A 2007 Toyota Highlander driven by Shivanni Negandhi of Orefield, PA, made an illegal left turn out of the northbound-only exit of Montgomery Center and struck a GMC Terrain heading north on Route 206 on Sunday evening, March 6, according to Montgomery Township Police.


Police and Montgomery Emergency Medical Services Squad 47 responded to the site of the accident on Route 206, just north of Route 518. EMS transporter both drivers and a passenger to Princeton Medical Center. Police ticketed Negandhi for careless driving, failure to observe a traffic control device, and improper turning. She is due in Montgomery Municipal Court.

They Both Had a Green Light

Montgomery police are investigating an accident in which both drivers claim they had a green light.


Jennifer Harris, 45, of Rocky Hill was driving a silver Honda minivan east on Route 518 on March 9 at 5:02 pm. At the same time, Mary Beth Schwarz, 49, from Hillsborough, was driving south in a silver Honda pilot on Route. 601 operated. Both drivers indicated they had a green light prior to the crash at the intersection. Both vehicles had to be towed. The investigation is still on going.


There were no injuries from this crash. Police encourage any witnesses to call 908.359.3222.
