Happy Birthday to Montgomery’s 105-year-old Resident

Posted March 27, 2025

When Rosalie F. Berger was 14, she and her twin sister opened a store front to teach tap dancing. Alone among all the residents at Stonebridge at Montgomery, she always sends EVERYone a birthday card. And unlike many younger folks, she keeps her calendar straight, according to other residents at Stonebridge.

Berger’s birthday is listed as March 25, 1920 — making her 105 years old. She still posts on social media, most recently urging her readers to sign a petition in support funding NPR and PBS. “Tell Congress to Save Public Broadcasting,” her post states. “Millions of Americans rely on public media for their news and educational program.”

Berger may have been the oldest poll worker in New Jersey. At age 98, in 2018, she worked the full election day and was still smiling at the close of the day (see photo above.) A former resident of Springfield, she said she has always been active in the Democratic Party, mostly behind the scene. “I try to participate in as much as I can,” she said. It is still true today.

She recently gave a luncheon presentation at Stonebridge for the Women’s Forum. As Sally Hart Cromwell said on social media: “Rosalie, you look wonderful! A true inspiration to many.”
