Dennis Ahn - D

Posted October 16, 2024

I am running for re-re-election to the Montgomery Township Committee. I never thought that I would be involved in politics, but now I understand the need for principled leaders in public service.

Dennis Ahn, Montgomery Committeeman

I was born in Elizabeth NJ. My parents immigrated here from South Korea. Living with my grandparents, I would hear stories from my grandfather about his time as a master chief petty officer in the South Korean Navy, fighting alongside the U.S. Navy against communism. I could feel their love for America as they spoke about our great country with pride. My parents came to America like many others who were doctors, professors, engineers and businessmen. They came here because they all believe in what America stands for “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Growing up, my goal was to become a State trooper. At 17 as soon as I graduated high school, I was on a plane to Ft. Benning GA. Home of the Infantry. Hoah! Yes, I enlisted in the Army. Due to life changes, my professional career took a different path, but that love of country which radiated from my parents and grandparents still shines within me.

I was never into politics and see myself as a moderate Democrat. I decided to run because I feel that more and more people are turning to hate and are unwilling to listen to each other. We are losing the true values of who we are. We need, more than ever, for people to step up and voice their opinions. That we will not accept hate and fear mongering but we are willing and open to listen, to work together, to continue to build our community and our great nation.

As one of our founding fathers John Dickinson said “United we stand, divided we fall.” Although we may have different views, and may not agree on certain topics, our goal of “Life liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” should be the bond that brings us together to treat each other with kindness and respect.

I am proud to serve Montgomery. I love the open spaces, parks, and pastures. I would like to continue to help preserve more land and keep the true essence of Montgomery alive. As a business owner I hope to use my knowledge to help our town continue to be fiscally responsible, build community, and create a safe environment for us and our children. I believe together, with hard work and transparency we can achieve our goals.
