Christine Nystrom Abrahams, 95

A long-time Skillman Resident

(February 15, 1929 – May 13, 2024)

Christine Nystrom Abrahams

Christine Nystrom Abrahams of Cape Coral, Florida — beloved friend, dedicated mother and grandmother, passionate wordsmith, and avid birdwatcher — died peacefully on May 13, 2024, at the age of 95.

Born on February 15, 1929, in Paterson, NJ, Christine moved to Agridor Farm in Skillman in 1931, then to Montevideo, Uruguay in 1940, where her father served in the YMCA World Service. Returning to the United States for college, Christine pursued her studies at Wells College, before graduating with highest honors from Syracuse University.

A longtime resident of Skillman, Christine worked as a professional translator, editor, and co-owner of an advertising agency with her husband Arthur. In 1986, Christine was recognized as an outstanding citizen for her tireless efforts in Montgomery Township, a testament to her commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in her community.

Christine found peace and happiness in her family and in nature, especially among animals, birds, plants, the forest, and her garden. Her love for all living things enriched her life, and she enjoyed sharing it with others. Alongside nature, Christine enjoyed writing poetry and reading detective novels set in different faraway places.

Christine's legacy of kindness, grace, and humility will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a loving family and their spouses, including two children, Bruce and Janice; two grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon; her brother Bruce; many nephews and nieces, and cousins; and a community that will forever be grateful for her presence.

A celebration of Christine's life will be held on June 6, 2024 at the Blawenburg Cemetery at 5 pm. A reception will follow at Agridor Farm, 110 Skillman Rd., Skillman, NJ. All who wish to honor her memory are warmly invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, in appreciation of their wonderful care.
