Charles W. Schneider

Charles W. Schneider, 85, died on Friday, April 5, 2024 in Skillman.

Born in Mt. Vernon, NY (December 16, 1938), for the last 15 years he and his wife spent their summers in Ogunquit, Maine and winters in Sarasota, Florida. Recently Charlie and Diane moved to New Jersey to be closer to family.

Charlie attended Norwich University where he played on the hockey team. After college he served in the Army (3rd Amored Division). Charlie owned his own restaurant for many years. After leaving the restaurant business, he was a general manager for Midas Muffler before retiring. Charlie and Diane raised their family in Glastonbury, Connecticut where they lived for over 25 years.

In retirement Charlie kept himself busy as he was always searching for his next adventure or hobby to delve into. He was an avid skier in his younger years, enjoyed collecting antiques and selling them on EBay. Charles was a dedicated Red Sox, Patriots and Tampa Bay Lightning fan. He also loved UConn Basketball (men and women). Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Predeceased by his parents Charles George and Marjorie Hall Schneider, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane Gregory Schneider; his children, Kurt (Carolyn), Greg (Melissa) and David (Molly); his “honorary” daughter Mary Kath; his two brothers, William (Judith) and George. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and his extended family and friends.

Services for Charles will be held privately for his immediate family.
