Somerset County authorities announced the arrest of Dr. Chike J. Aguh, 64, of Belle Mead, in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in Franklin Township.
The victim reported to Franklin Township Police that she was sexually assaulted by Aguh while attending a medical appointment within his practice in Franklin Township, according to a press release issued by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday, January 14. Aguh is an obstetrics and gynecology specialist according to his website. He is affiliated with medical facilities Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Saint Peter's University Hospital.
Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said the incident allegedly occurred on January 12. The victim was interviewed by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes Unit and Franklin Township Police Department. As a result of this investigation, Aguh was arrested and charged on January 13 at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office without incident.
Aguh is charged with 2nd degree sexual assault and 4th degree sexual contact. Aguh was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
