Barbara was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. She graduated from Newark State College of NJ in 1966 and married her high school sweetheart Riley Robert (Bob) Briggs in 1967. She and Bob remained married for 58 years, living in Belle Mead for 53 years, establishing lifetime friendships.

Barbara was an elementary school teacher, initially in Union, NJ and eventually in Skillman, NJ teaching kindergarten and first grade. She enjoyed time with her friends playing tennis, bridge, and golf. In addition, Barbara was an avid NY Yankee fan, and while at home, could most often be found watching her Yanks, the NY Knicks, and following Villanova basketball.

She was a voracious reader, especially historical fiction. Mostly though, she spent her adult years treasuring time with her family – immediate and extended. She served as a matriarch, maintaining nationwide connections with her children and their spouses, her nephews and their wives, her cousins, and their children, and most beloved her three grandchildren Dominic, Riley, and Baiera.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years Riley Robert (Bob) Briggs (80); her two children and their spouses, Scott and Kanani Briggs, and Kristin Briggs and Mark Camera; as well as their five children collectively: Dominic and Riley Briggs, and Baiera Briggs-Camera, Nicole Camera and Matthew Camera. She is also survived by her sister Ann Tyranski’s sons, her nephews Chad and Gaet Tyranski and their families.

Visitation will take place at Hillsborough Funeral Home, on Sunday March 2, 2025, from 4 pm to 7 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church in Skillman on Monday March 3, 2025, at 10:30 am, followed by entombment at Rocky Hill Cemetery, (5 Washington Street, Rocky Hill), followed by a reception lunch immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children's Development Academy
