3 Teens Escape Fiery Car Crash on Dutchtown Zion Road

A 17-year-old driver crashed into a guardrail on Dutchtown Zion Road, causing the car to burst into flames on Friday, July 8. The three 17-year-olds inside the vehicle were able to exit with minor injuries, according to a Montgomery Township police press release issued on Wednesday, July 14.

The occupants, a 17-year-old Pennsylvania driver, and two 17-year-old passengers from Hillsborough and Pennington, were able to exit the car (a 2018 Toyota Camry) prior to the fire, Montgomery police said.


Police investigated the cause of the crash, and found the vehicle was traveling west on Dutchtown Zion Road at an "unsafe speed" on Friday at 8:14 pm when it left the roadway and struck a guardrail. The vehicle came to a stop on the guardrail and subsequently erupted in fire.

Montgomery EMS treated the occupants at the scene for minor injuries while Montgomery Fire Companies 1 and 2 extinguished the fire. The crash remains under investigation and motor vehicle charges are pending.
