Burglary at Belle Mead Synagogue

Montgomery Township Police are looking for a young white male who broke into Congregation Kehilat Shalom in Belle Mead early Sunday morning, July 7.

Montgomery police responded to the synagogue, located at 253 Belle Mead -Griggstown Road, for an activated burglar alarm at 12:58 am. Police located an unsecured door and proceeded to check the interior of the synagogue.

A surveillance system depicted a white male, approximately 17 to 25 years of age with brown hair and an average build wearing a white T-shirt, gray athletic shorts, and tan low cut work boots with a white sole.

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson issued a press release on Tuesday, July 9, asking for assistance in identifying the young man (see photograph).

Police did not give details regarding whether the man stole anything, or whether he vandalized the synagogue.

Prosecutor Robertson, Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Montgomery Township Captain Thomas Wain are requesting the public’s assistance in the investigation into the burglary. At this time, no further details are available.
