11 New Restaurants Coming to Town

A profusion of new restaurants are in the pipeline for Montgomery Township.


1. Ricky’s Fusion (by Ricky’s Thai, which has locations in Skillman and Hillsborough), was expected to open in the Princeton North Shopping Center in June.


Wu’s Shanghai Dumplings is coming to Belle Mead this fall.


2. Wu’s Shanghai Dumplings in Montgomery Place, Belle Mead, is expected to open this fall. Current locations include North Brunswick and Edison). Specialties include Noodles, Lion’s Head (a stewed meatball dish from the Huaiyang cuisine of eastern China, consisting of large pork meatballs or beef meatballs stewed with vegetables), and Shu Mai (traditional Chinese dumplings), and Bubble Tea.


3. Mango Tree Indian Cuisine to open in Montgomery Place, Belle Mead, later this year.


4. Kasia Market, in Montgomery Place. The Asian foods market will have an indoor seating area and take-out food.


5. PJ’s Pancake House and Tavern at The Walk at Montgomery on Route 206 in Skillman. The popular breakfast spot that opened on Nassau Street in Princeton in 1962, is expanding to Montgomery Township, with a possible open date in late Fall. It will include a full liquor license and a diner-style menu.


6. A second restaurant in the Walk at Montgomery will be opening as well, but the name has not yet been released by the developer.


7. The Iron Whale. To open in the Montgomery Promenade, a 292,700-square-foot shopping center on Route 206 in Skillman, is projected to open in Spring 2025. The menu, by Executive Chef Charles Collins, features seafood (hence the term Whale). It also includes a wide selection of meat presentations, or “Iron.” It will include a “Taco Bar” and cocktails. There is one located on the Boardwalk in Asbury Park, and it is part of the McLoone Restaurant Group.

8. The Robinson Ale House is also coming to The Montgomery Promenade. It has locations in Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Red Bank. It is also part of the McLoone Restaurant Group — named for owner Tim McLoone who is described on mcloones.com as being “schooled at Harvard and accomplished in music, athletics, and business” who has performed with Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi. The Ale house is “a place for a quick lunch or a night out in celebration with a vast beer and wine selection.” The menu includes dishes such as vegetable risotto, meatloaf, NY Strip Au Poivre, fish and chips, blackened mahi mahi, crab cakes, flatbread, Buffalo shrimp, sandwiches, and more.


9. The Turning Point Restaurant will serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch at its location in Montgomery Promenade. The franchise also has locations in Delaware, Florida, Pennsylvania, and almost 20 in New Jersey. The menu includes a variety of dishes, such as Lobsta-Cado Toast (Multigrain bread topped with smashed Haas avocados, lobster chunks, and served with eggs) for $23; Lobster Benedict, $25; Berry-Licious Waffles $13 (a Belgian waffle with sliced strawberries, blueberries); and Spicy Ranch Chicken Quesadilla, $14.


10. More Than Q is a Texas-style BBQ with locations in Princeton, Lambertville, and Easton, PA. It is expected to open in Montgomery Promenade in the spring or next summer. The menu includes smoked meats and southern side dishes, including baked beans, collard greens, cheesy grits, brisket, sausage, and ribs.


11. Whole Foods Market expected to open in Montgomery Promenade in spring, will offer lunch and dinner to-go or to eat inside the market. The menu includes hot pizza, salads, sandwiches, and other freshly prepared, made-to-order meals.
